The Center of Excellence for Zoonotic and Animal Disease Defense (ZADD) protects the nation’s agriculture and public health sectors against high-consequence foreign animal, emerging, and zoonotic disease threats.  The center meets this mission by performing basic and translational research; developing and deploying preventive measures and countermeasures; modeling how a disease spreads, and its economic effects; and training students and public health decision makers to detect and respond to an outbreak, quickly and effectively.

ZADD research areas:

Biological Systems (e.g., countermeasures, pathogenesis, detection tools)
Information Analysis Systems (e.g., economic and epidemiologic modeling)
Education and Outreach Systems
