CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

CAMRA Research Spotlight

 Current advancements at the CAMRA Center of Excellence include:

• One of the largest single repositories of advanced dose response models for a wide spectrum of infectious agents;
• Advanced exposure models for both inhalation and potable water exposure to pathogens;
• Expansive decision support tools and microbial risk assessment models aimed at developing a rapid and simple decision making process;
• A bank of recommended surrogates for potential bioterror agents; and
• Expanded educational tools to continue building the QMRA community.

CAMRA is also developing a central repository called the CAMRA WIKI, to make QMRA information available and accessible to the public. Though still in early developmental stages, the wiki will provide a reliable source of information on microbiological hazards with data, information, and new developments included in the content.  The wiki will also serve as an instructional tool for QMRA courses and workshops such as the CAMRA Summer Institute. The wiki will contribute to building a network of individuals knowledgeable in the field of quantitative microbial risk assessment.

CAMRA Consultants: As CAMRA nears the end of the grant term, the Center intends to leverage the knowledge and skills of its researchers by forming an independent consulting firm specializing in the area of QMRA.  CAMRA Consultants will offer full consulting services based on risks posed from various microbial agents and safe and healthy building recommendations based on risks from potential bioterror or other infectious disease agents.  CAMRA Consultants’ main strength is the set of core researchers and consulting scientists with expansive knowledge in QMRA and engineering, all of whom are drawn from the current CAMRA cadre or those students and researchers formerly affiliated with CAMRA.
