University Programs will be sponsoring the following workshops:
Wildland Urban Interface Fire Colloquium: June 17-18, 2009, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA: Cal Poly and DHS S&T IGD will gather approximately 15-20 subject matter experts to examine research gaps in Wildland Urban Interface Fire topics, including modeling, fire behavior, and climate change effects. Through facilitated discussions, participants will consider current research and research needs, and identify potential areas for future research. Day 1 will include a tour of a local wildfire site. Cal Poly is a partner in the DIEM (UNC) COE.
Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering Workshop: July 29, 2009, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Troy, NY: RPI and DHS S&T IGD will gather approximately 15 subject matter experts for a workshop focusing on geotechnical engineering research needs, knowledge gaps, and other relevant considerations for a research agenda for the next few years. RPI is a partner in the DIEM (UNC) COE.
